Hi 1TUFSLR.

The auto you need is the TH700 otherwise known as a 4L60. They were fitted to VN/VP/VU/VQ Commodore and their relatives. The auto trans out of a VS V8 is a derivative of the 4L60, called the 4L60-E. It is electronically controlled & is therefore not suitable for your application unless you are also fitting the VS V8 engine and computer to match. The easy way to pick if it is the electronic one (or not) is to look on the driver's side of the box. If it has a kickdown cable it is a TH700/4L60 box, the one you DO want. If it has a round electrical connector with lots of pins. it is the electronic box, this is the one you DON'T want.

Hi 1TUFSLR.

Be careful at the wrecker, because there a 2 types of TH700, V6 & V8. $400 sounds too cheap to be a V8. You have said what type of car it's going into, but the V8 one is sought after for V8 conversions.

A typical wrecker price in Sydney is over $1000 fot a VN/VP V8 TH700.

before buying from wrekers check commodore sites as 1,000 is expensive as for a s/h 700.
