Hi, Time for a new set of wheels and I was just looking for advice on the best type of tyre setup for a torana LH sedan with 13" x 7" front and 14" x 8" rear setup, previously I'v been using BFGoodrich T/A radials but I've never driven it on anything else so I've got nothing for comparison, so does anyone have any advice on an alterternate tyre? Is there a tyre that makes toranas handle in the wet?

I love my Bridgestone Eager SF330's. Note though that they are only going to be making them in 245/50/R14 and 265/50/R14's into the future. For a wide tyre they perform heaps better than my old Yokahama 215's in the wet that used to like to aquaplane on 2mm of water.

If I were buying a new set of wheels today, I'd be making sure that I'm going to have a supply of tyres into the future. Guys have said that 15" will be available long term, because heaps of cars in the US run 15". However, they seemed to doubt that this was going to be the case when I bought my new Eagers a few days ago. Something that is definitely worth researching. Chopper may still have some industry contacts that he'll be able to confirm with us.

I think that front to rear have to be within 25mm of each other in radius. Something else to check out before you part with your cash.

Its illegal in all states to run different diameter rims so i'd sugest you get another pair to match. Radial TA's are crap, worst tyre i've ever had. Absolutely no grip in the wet, only good thing is they are wide.

Guys in the Club say the same about the Radial T/A's, unless they've improved the tread pattern to something more modern.

Had the Eagers around Oran Park and Wakefield Park and they perform admirably for about 10 laps before getting really gooey. In the Dutton's though they were no match for proper sticky competition intermediates.

If you insist on running 13x7 and 14x8, I'd be using 205/60R13 and 225/65R14. If you drive the car from A to B without giving it a hard time, I'd use Barum. I did have three really good contacts in Bridgestone. Two have retired and the other one has left the industry all together.

I've found the T/A's to be best out of the lot --for burnouts :spoton: :spoton: :spoton: :spoton: :spoton: :spoton: :spoton:

Thanks for the feed back, I asked the MVR and sure enough rim size has got to be match front and rear, also they got me on account of the offest on the rear rims sure enough which explains why the torana came with 2 rusted out rims in the boot, so I just swap'em in for rego swap'em out for driving like the previous owner had been doing for about 3 years. Probably only possible in the NT thanks to cops going for ricers and blow of valves pretty much exclusivly. Long live non-statehood and overstretched police forces I guess. :-)
