Because my valves have been machined (more than once id imagine, should have used new valves) the valve stem is sitting up too high so when i try and adjust the rockers there holding the valves down. I've put shims under the rockers to fix that problem but now i have the problem of the pushrods being to short.

I was just wondering the best fix for this problem, im thinking either get the valve stems ground down (dont really want to remove the heads again), remove shims and replace pushrods with shorter ones or install longer pushrods... Im trying to get out of this the cheapest way possable, the engine runs fine its just a little noisy in the top end and the lifters take a long time to pump up (brand new lifters). Can anyone tell me how long 253/308 pushrods are, and also how long 186 and 202 pushrods are and if they would be suitable replacements or not. I have lots of 186's and 202's *hint* ( i realise 186/202's have diff length pushrods).

Thanks
Damien

Std 308/253 pushrod length is 8.700", 202's and Group A 308's have 9.000" length.

I think you'd be best off ordering a set of 8.800" pushrods. Approx $180 a set for Crow Superduty pushrods.
