I am looking for an answer on whether or not lx toranas including hatchbacks came out with a factory or dealer fitted radio cassette? For example the SLR5000 on car sales that has been posted... this is the link

they didn,t come factory but the dealer would fit anything you asked to sell you a new car.

I used to have the Holden optioned cassette player in my old SS, but I sold it to a club member, I know it was a Clarion. Hmm I used to have a good pic and a brochure on it, I'll have to have a look since the link does not work.

The reason i am asking is the one owner hatch i have has a cassette player in it. It also is a clarion unit. The owner have me the user manual for it as well.

one sure tell that it is not original would be if the unit has the FM band.

my guess would be not .......(but dont let that stop anyone establishing otherwise), since fm radio only started in 75 with a few low powered local stations australia wide and the first commercial station not operating until 1980. The GM airchief radio/cassette unit fitted to the UC in 79 was am only.....but realise this means nothing.....as that unit would have been australia specific, whereas aftermarket units could have been units that were designed for the european markets etc which had fm a lot earlier than aus.

In the owners manual for the GMH (Phillips) radio at the time, it is mentioned about an FM push button radio as well.

Flamenco, thats a standard radio, not a cassette player
The one Mag 5000 put up is close to the one I had, but not the same. The one I had had a bit more to it. I need to find the pic of it.

mag 5000, interesting combination you have there.....
is the car a hatch or sedan because it has a black dash, which no hatch ever had, and wow, uncut too, very rare for a black one. Does it have factory air???

its a 5000 76 sedan thats a bit here and there interior wise.Original dash had been painted red in the mid 90' so the last owner fitted the what you see in the photo.Bit hatch bit l34? worst part of car all considered.Local am radio selection is poor but ya can play all the old tape collection
