If you did check out if it had LPG on it- holes in the tyre well
also the filler cap was behind the drivers side rear wheel.
If it is the same car he bought it just before Christmas- despite
what he says.
Also I had the car verified it is all matching even the engine,
but the chassis number ( as far as I could tell not the right font on the lettering but this could have been done long before, who knows.) and part of the engine bay were the only thing that was in under coat when I saw it.

If it's the green one I'm thinking of that turned up to the All Holden day in NSW a few years ago then that would explain alot. When I saw it the build date was 2/78 and the chassis number matched. The other tags said it was a 76 build though........ I certainly hope it's not the same car that they restamped the chassis number and changed the compliance plate on. Are the stripes painted on?

the VIN matches this car, however the build date you gave is different, can you explain why?
If you were not familiar with this model, you should have come here first, remember the old "check before the cheque"

I think, the trim was chamois with herring bone.
The new owner has done a good job of rebuilding her by the looks
of the pics from ebay.
By my records of the car build date is 5/76

Michael, all the numbers add up.
But the car was definately white and the tags off the car
and the only repairs that I could see were near the canister in
under coat, I didnt like the way the chassis number looked
and thought hard about it (buying it).
But decided to walk away from it.
He then advetised it in the Trading Post.

The date casting was 28D6.i'm picking car up on sunday & havn't pay yet, what sould cast numbers on block be?Whats the cast date on the block? Has it been decked?
Which matches the original engine number.
Tony the car is an all matching car, I didnt buy it because I
was being overly fussy, and wanted a totally original car. (I know hard to find)
You have bought well, because if the new owner has rebuilt the engine, resprayed and retrimmed it and you are getting it for $35K, its a bargain.

But it depends who you get cause some people at holden dont know the difference between an LJ and an LX! go figure!
But its true that the piece of paper is only numbers/option code/engine guide.
