PWR although more than twice the cost is superior to the Desert Cooler. Better finish, and better looking.

Without going into it, there have been mixed reports with the Desert Cooler Rads. Mate of mine in the rad industry has seen some shockers from them first hand.

Edit: PWR approx. $800-$1000 depending on whether you go x-flow or std I believe. DC about $400 - $500 I think, but dont quote me on those figures, just a rough guide.

Dave's correct,iv seen some crap from dessert coolers, and then some were ok(Quality control?).Never seen one of their ally ones though so really cant comment on those.PWR were a nice unit,we had a couple of failures with those(design issue with mount brackets braking)but they took that on board and modifiied them to make them stronger.

Last price list from PWR were about $800 plus GST retail for x flow/standard flow.Get on their website and have a look around.

I had a custom cross flow radiator made with mounting bracket for a Davies Craig DCSL16 fan by PWR. Cost was $850 from memory. A very good job, everybody who sees it always comments on it.

Hmmm, I got a quote from DC which $650-$800 for a 6cyl... and a V8 job would be more expensive than that (I presume), or maybe I was speaking to the wrong people :P

I dunno, sounds a bit cheap to me anyway...

You can buy PWR products cheaper through REPCO Canning Vale 9455 6422 or any REPCO store for that matter. Freight is cheaper through REPCO as well.

That is hugely expensive, I had no idea the PWR units were that much, WAY to much to be spending on a radiator IMO.

Repco Canning Vale came back with exactly the same price for the radiator and freight.

That is odd. They were cheaper for me. Manufacturers typically charge full retail so they do not compete with their distributors.

I just got these prices quoted By DC (21/06/08)

$750.00 will get you a full Aluminium Street and Strip radiator to suit LX.

You could either fit a 16 Thermo straight on the radiator (DC could mount it for you) or you could fit an Aluminium shroud and 2x12 Thermos. This is called the Combo Pack.

A Street and Strip unit can be Combo-ed by fitting an Aluminium shroud and 2 x 12 thermo fans (2000 cfm in total). The Combo is sent to you as one unit ready to drop straight in and is discounted at $1150.00.

yeah i just got a pwr x flow alloy radiator with a 16" thermo for i think it was around $1140. thats freighted to WA. I know its alot but damn its a sexy radiator, i very pleased with it. the only reason i went with it is because DC were extremly rude over the phone. Childish reason but meh

i have the 4 core triple flow dc radiator (non alloy) but i think my waterpump (genuine holden) has dramas pulling the water through , my car runs hotter while driving than it does idling. Although the car doesnt get hot while driving it sits around 185 to 190 but if i stop in traffic it drops to 180. If i give the car a hard time it goes up to 200 quickly (pump aerating??) anyone had this problem before? Before changing the radiator it was fine cruising just idling it got hot , i changed the fan setup to au fans and triple flow rad at the same time cause i got the radiator cheap.

Im not actually putting the radiator down at all , i have been to a few radiator places and they have said that they sometimes have removed the baffles from the radiators for 308 's dc triple flow because the holden standard pump struggles. I then rang DC and even Norm said that they have known to struggle so best of running a electric pump with it.

I had overheating problems with a new five core triple flow desert cooler. After trying a couple of different style water pumps I had the baffles removed which improved things but it still struggled on a hot day. I ended replacing the radiator with an alloy.

at idle or while moving did it get hot , mines ok but just fans run constantly and i have tried to raise the temp setting on the fan controller but then the car just runs that bit hotter , so i can drive it hot weather just that it runs cooler at idle , bloody weird seeing though i have chased idle overheating its whole life
