Hi All,

I've got a old AM radio in my Inca Gold HB 2 door and I intend to keep it original, even though it is not the correct AM radio for the HB. I've been looking for an AM transmitter to send it tunes from a MP3 player. I couldn't find any retail units but I have purchased plans/circuit diagrams for a DIY unit and I'll post on here how it performs once complete. It runs from the cigarette lighter and is 130mm x 67mm x 44mm.

Also, the radio is a Holden unit but its not the right one for the HB, can anyone identify what model it is from?

Thanks,

HB1200

Keep it original? what about that temp gauge sitting there like dogs......

Why not do as others have suggested and buy yourself a budget tiny amplifier which can be hidden and run the ipod direct into that and to the speaker. It will probably be more compact and cheaper than the am transmitter you build yourself and certainly is going to offer superior sound quality.......you can always set the equaliser on your ipod to am quality if that is the desired effect.

I use a system as described by DA in my 1959 FC. Original radio is fitted and works, but I have hidden a 200W amplifier and speakers under the seat, all hidden wiring except a connection jack for the iPod. Plug it in, turn it up and very nice. At car shows you push the connector down into the seat squab and everything is factory.

Cheers,

Craig.

DA, the temp gauge will go as soon as I fix the one in the dash. I like the amp/speaker idea though, I'll give it a go if the transmitter doesn't perform to my liking. It should be an interesting project in either case.
