I am looking at doing up a Lx hatch mainly for the strip and am tossing up the idea of an injected 5 litre or a LS1 5.7 ltr. I would more than likely have a supercharger in there as well. I would just like peoples thoughts on what might be the better choice for ease of installation, cost, and getting it engineered as i would still want to have it road registered. I would probably get it tubbed too but is that street legal? Any suggestions welcome.

Whatever engine you put in, add the blower after its registered, will save you some hassles.

SBC or 304 not the LS1, not saying its not a good motor cos we all know that they are, but from what iv read in these forums it hasnt been an easy job for the ones that went down that path

SBC can make tonns of power but if you want no hassles for reg its 304 id say..with a supercharger you wont lack in power so id use the easiest motor i could..

a sbc with a 6-71 or a carb feed ls1 ,but the sbc is alot cheaper then the ls1 i mean aftermarket wise .If i was going ls1 i would wait a little longer as at the moment (better then a few years ago) good parts are still a bit to high but with the sbc the range of parts is massive and prices are low for what you get theses days.

304 stroked with some -9's and gas is also fun..............

I've got no probs with the chev's (i run one) but for the street, it would probably be easier to get the 304 registered... Plus there is a hell of a lot more go fast goodies for the holden engines than there was a few years back...

Thnks heaps guys. Lots of good info. Looks like i will go down the vn injected path for ease and i am sure the blower will make it interesting to drive on the street anyway. I really want to mini tub it for looks as i am not a huge fan of flares unless they are on an original car and i want big rubber.
Now i will be looking for a cheap hatch to do this to.
thanks again and i will let you know of my progress as i go along.
