hey everyone, i'm just discovering the joys of the torana and managed to get myself a really cheap two door LC... but it's a four. i've been told that i can chop the front at the fire wall by drilling out the spot welds and welding on a six cyl front. i'm hoping there is someone out there who has done it before and can give me a hand with some ideas. i've got people lined up to help with the welding but i need to know if there are any major problems doin it. any info would be appriciated

Only thing I can suggest is make sure your front door gaps are perfect before you remove the 4cyl front and mate up the 6cyl front assembled and line up the front door gap to guards before you start welding. Then remove panels as required to finish the welding. Good luck!

Hi, i completely unpicked the front end off my LC including inner guards. Once all those are off your left with the 2 rails sticking out then its only a matter of drilling out the spot welds along the firewall to under the floor where the rails overlap the rest of the chassis. Putting it back on will take care back i couldnt see a problem. Good luck, Kev

Last time this came up someone mentioned the rear control arm brackets on the body are different too so make sure you change them over if they are different.

The rear control arms are different they are much smaller in size as is the diff itself. It would not be an easy job to change the front end and making sure that all was square because if not you will rub out tyres very quickly. I would have everything ready and speak to a local panel shop with a robot that the car can be mounted to so all dimensions can be trued up before it is welded in place. I had to have my car put on one of these to pull the front straight. It had to be moved 50mm to the passengers side to get 12mm to stick. The main concern was the bonnet gaps it just would not line up all the way around until it was pulled straight.

Best of luck.
