Looked at a lc 2 door today and along the sills it was coated in this lumpy stuff lookde factory as the sills were mint, is this some kind of factory rust proof option?

Its called stone guard. Its not factory but a lot of people used to put it on the sills and under the wheel arched to stop stone chips and stop road noise.

I have that shit all over my SL its light green, i hate it. Its a bugger to get off too. eats my 3m noodle disks like there is no tomorrow.

How would you know. The only way to tell is strip the paint. A pin hole under the paint could turn into a 3inch hole.

Its a fair chance that if there is stone guard present that the body isnt perfect..

They looked mint to me because if you look at pics of mine ANYTHING is mint!!!
Yeah fair call didnt think about the fact you can spray the shit over rust to hide it
the car im talking bout is on ebay with the rotiserie for 1500 beans
