G'day all, this being my first post and all, I realise that there have been many other threads related to power steering conversions, and I have read them all! Atleast I think i have, and feel free to correct me.
If you've recently read any of the street mags or parts magazines you might have seen a little ad adverstising Blacks Racks, bolt in power steering conversion units into HQ's.
I just spoke with Graeme at Blacks Racks and asked if there was any possibility of doing one for my Torana, or, any other, as I have surmised that there is a great interest in this topic, if it could be done.
Graeme said that he had looked at accouple of Torries and thought about it, but didn't think there was a place in the market for it. How wrong, I says to him, however, his next projects is fitting one to the HT/HK models and was slowly going to work his way down the track to the little ol Torana.
If enough interest is generated, by either emailing him at [email protected], or calling him and hassling the hell out of him, his website being www.blacksracks.com.au then he said the conversion project might come sooner. The ball park figure for such a project would be around the $2000 mark, but it depends on how well the kits would be selling.
Any comments on this topic are appreciated, I just thought I was doing the right thing in the interest of the Torana community and help out a little.

Thanks

Here is a pic of these on the ozrodders forum. I certainly like the look of them.

Don't know what the go is with his web site though, I have tried it many times over the last few months and it never works.

$2K is a good price for a complete conversion if everything is brand new.

Keep us all posted.

Now I just need to get off my arse and keep going on mine. :D

The HQ conversion is $2,530 plus pump $470 plus hoses $50-$100. Based on the HQ prices I would expect the Torana setup to cost closer to $3000 than $2000.

I spoke to him at length at Motorvation
He said there wasn't really a call for Torana power steer racks
Yet while I stood there talking to him no less the 6 guys came up and asked the same thing
4 Torana owners and 2 hotrodders with Torana front suspension in their cars
His HQ setup is $2500 and I wouldn't expect it to go much lower for a Torana setup
Some people just can't see the potential for some products
I still don't know whey he did the HQ first (besides the fact he owns one) as they can be had with power steer factory ...... albeit not a great system

It just might take a bit longer for him to realise that potential, please people, keep hassling him, er, I mean, expressing interest none the less!

I drive a HQ with no power steering, so when i jump in my little torana, it feels like it has power steering! haha

But if i did have power steering, i could put bigger rubber on the front i guess!
