Does anyone have a copy of the speaker mounting instructions for an LC?

I've sourced an original radio/speaker/aerial complete for my XU1 and want to confirm speaker location. I know its under the glovebox area, but need to know how it is fixed in place.

Many Thanks,

Craig.

Have restored and fitted the radio, will get the speaker in soon.

Thanks again, factory documents made it all easy.

Looks good CraigA did you have the brackets to mount the radio?

Hi LC69GTR,

Yes, the two side brackets came with the radio, as did the speaker and aerial. The bit that was missing was the upper speaker bracket, with the factory diagrams I can now make one and fit it up correctly. It is also missing the rear mount for the radio, as you can see in the diagrams its only a piece of flat light gauge steel and I would guess typical of the type used in many car radio installations. Should be able to source it from Jaycar.

Cheers,

Craig.

Looks the goods Craig. Have you got the 'insulator' panel that sits under the glovebox? It's a flattish panel that's made out of the same stuff that the glovebox interior is made of, and it's a fair bit bigger than what is shown on that drawing.

Yes, I have this panel as well - got the lot from ePay about a month ago.

This panel relies on the speaker being fixed with the mount that's missing though, and I will fit it all when I've made the bracket and then post full pics in this thread as a reference for others.

I held it up there a million times trying to work out how the panel was secured - the front was easy, but for the life of me I couldn't suss out the rear mount. When these diagrams were posted the riddle was solved.

Do you have the dimensions of the speaker bracket? I have one somewhere I can measure for you if you need it - I'd just need to find it.

Thanks very much for the offer, it would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the bracket extracted and enlarged.

Would need these three if you don't mind.

Hi

You will also need the measurement of the right hand vertical (in the picture) as it is a different length to the other one. The longest one goes nearest the firewall.

Thanks Bazza, a useful tip that's not overly apparent from the diagram.

I'll get back to you on it, using Bazza's photo as a reference. Might take a week or so to track it down, but I'll get there. While I'm at it, I'll see if I can get a photo of the panel itself - I have a really good one somewhere.

Sorry it took so long. Here's a pic of the bracket in place too.

Craig, by your diagram, the horizontal blue measurement is 185mm, the horizontal red measuremnt is 155mm, the longer vertical arm is 75mm and the shorter vertical arm is 65mm.

Also, the bracket is 25mm wide, and mine is non passivated zinc plated (silver) rather that the passivated plated gold colour that Bazza posted.

Cheers,

I love old cars, but can't stand the old school stereos, but this looks great guys. I would love to see some pictures of the finished installed setups. :spoton:
