I've owned a chrome yellow and a sffron metallic , the saffron one looked great, no very common at all, it has a very fine metallic in it it looks much the same as the new commodore colour. The Saffron L34 is currently being restored to concourse by a guy out at Peak Crossing near Ipswich in Queensland.
The chrome yellow one I sold in 1991 to a guy in Toowomba, last rego was the original qld rego OJT 002, no idea where that one is

I was always looking for a Sable Mink one, they look awesome with the rallys and black and white plates.

I only know of three Saffron L34s that I have come across:

Mine - currently mandarin red
One other in Vic - also red(!), but pretty ordinary
One in QLD - It's actually the right colour!

If you look at the AMC magazine L34 'By the numbers' article, those tags are a Saffron car. One other Saffron car that may still be around is the vinyl roofed one on the Aussie Muscle Cars Postcards series put out by Phase 3 posters (I think...) Plus I have heard rumours of one or two others, but no locations or current status.

brad ive got a "mandarin red"?????? lx 4dr...was just a six cyl sl....want to paint it original...gave the paint code to my painter mate and he couldnt find it on the ppg computer to mix it.....any ideas??....any pics of yours red?.....is it red red or orangy red?

Deciding on a colour to paint a car can drive you nuts. All the colours look great but I've been thinking a dark blue might look good. The wife disagrees. I have seen dark blues on toranas but I don't know if the l34s come out with a dark blue. At the end of the day it's not an l34 so it's not going to devalue the car if colour is not a torana colour so a blue it is, which blue is going to be another hard decision

Have you tried the Spies Hecker site, the formula may be converted to suit the PPG paint?
