There was a thread a while back about what brand and type of ball joint to buy. A part time forum member from Wagga bought the nyloc nut type. After just having been zooming along in a 100kmh zone he luckily had slowed down for 50kmh limit in town and turned a corner. When he turned the threaded rod that the nut locks to pulled through the nut and the balljoint fell out causing a fair bit of damage including trashing his $800 rim.

I'd say this is a warning to any of us using the nyloc nut type. Pay the bucks and buy the old split pin type coz it might just save your life and your car.

it must have been more to it than the nyloc nut !!! maybe it was cross threaded ..

however i have heard the cheaper chinese copies wear quicker ..

i actually had a split pin joint let go, but it was the original, replaced it with a nylock one and drove around on it for 2 years without a drama.

i use the roadsafe nylock style balljoints in my new torrie as well, no problems to report
