G'day, I just put some WRX seats in the front of my LH.
its a pretty easy conversion, I didnt even have to modify the rails on the seat!
here are some pics for you, they are not the greatest but you will get the idea.
the seats are nice and comfy too!

They look great Cohen. What model WRX did they come out of (year)?

And how much did the seats set you back, if you don't mind?

No, seriously... they look really good! I take it that's the seat's original trim? It matches spot on in the pics.

Tim, I paid $500 for the front and rear seats, the rear is going to need a bit of modifying to get it in though.
they are out of a 00 or 01 WRX I think, the Bugeye ones.

Dick, they are the standard trim which is similar colours to what I had, if I can get the rear seat in I will make up some door trims to match.

for anyone who wants to know what I had to do to mount them:

the rear mounts were easy, 1 mount goes straight through the trans tunnel about 75mm infront of the seatbelt anchor, with a suitable plate under the bolt. the other mount is around 55mm back from the standard rear mount so I made up a plate that went from the original mount on the floor back to where the mount on the rail is, and bolted through the rail, through the plate and through the floor with another plate under the floor.

the front mounts on the rails sat on the angled part of the strengthening crossmember that runs across the floor. so what I did was bent up some 4mm plate that went from the standard front mounts and followed the shape of the crossmember. then I drilled some holes to match up with the mounts in the rails and put some countersunk head capscrews through from the back of the plate. when the plates were bolted to the original mounts it left the capscrews poking out like studs, I just dropped the seat on and did up the nuts.
I should have taken pictures when I was bolting them in :banghead:

They look excellent Makka, when you coming to Canberra again - I have a ton of work for you to do on mine? lol joke.

If I were keeping my Torry I might be tempted to look at those. Pics when bolting them in would have been great.

Keep up the good work

Cheers
Alan

Herne, are you getting rid of your torana? thats a shame, its a very nice car. I should be up in Canberra over Summernats again, depending on what happens with work.

Stevo, I could be moving to Melb soon so if you did need a hand I could possibly help out, its pretty easy to do really,

makka - they look AWESOME mate! Well done. The big question is - what do they feel like and how do they compare to the original seats:

a. comfort

b. handling (ie. hard cornering etc)

They look like they'd really hold you in snug.

yep, they fold froward and I reckon they would be fine in a hatch
I actually bought them off a mate who had just put STI seats in his WRX.

jump on ebay, there are plenty on there

Yeah, Iv'e got MR2 seats in the Commodore, Prelude seats for the Rangie and I don't think the standard seats will be in the LJ too long after rego.

Just don't tell Makka.

Tim, you would need to do some serious rail mods to get the WRX seats in the LJ, just looking at the one sitting beside me, the floor is a very different shape to a LH

Rob, you have a pm
