its that time of the year (for me) where the brakes need attention an so i want to re kit the calipers, the manuals all say to use compressed air to get the piston out. but i dont have an attachment which gives an air tight seal to push the piston out, so what compressor attachments did you guys use, any tricks of the trade are also welcome.

im all ears/eyes!

cheers

Hi,
You won't need an airtight seal. I take the end of my hose and hold it shut by bending it. Then with a rag wrapped around the caliper slowly let the air in. You will see the piston start to move under the rag. At this point hold your hose at the same pressure. Don't give it too much all at once, it will go off with a bang and possibly cause injury. Put safety glasses on as a precaution.

yerp as rodmo said

I havent rebuilt torry ones but i have built a few others, i used compresed air and but a samll block of wood ( depensind on calaiper size) where the rotot goes if u knw what i mean, and gently push it out with compresed air.

I use the wood so it dosent damged the piston, NEVER use your fingers! unless yo uwant you wife to be opening al lthe sauce bottle for the rest of your life

Enjoy and goodluck
