I am looking to purchase this vehicle that the current owner assures me is a genuine LH SL/R original. Could one of you Torana gurus please help with ID and let me know if it is the real deal? Thanks, The numbers are as follows:
LH8VD69
Vin - ALH011745M
Body - 437160M
Trim - 1876-19X
Paint - 568-15826
Engine - L20
Trans - M40
Axle - GU7
The numbers on the plate in the centre of the firewall are:
8B69LDJ437160H
This last numbers concerns me because from what I have read it should be 8D69....... if it is a true SL/R.
Any help appreciated, thanks from very confused.

ID help please

You are correct Higgsee, someone has messed with the tags at some stage. If a genuine SL/R the centre tag should start with 8D69. The D stands for SL/R, and the 69 four door. 8 for Holden.
The L20 means 6 cylinder and M40 is the three speed trimatic (auto).
15826 paint code is Azure Blue.
What is the chassis number, this should also tie up with one of the tags.

That Body ID tag is correct for that VIN as the numerical part of the Body No is in the later part of the VIN.
The VIN indicates an S model 202 which matches the Engine code L20.
The trans is Trimatic and the diff ratio is 2.78:1.
The Model No should be LH8VB69, maybe this has been misread?
The No listed as the "VIN" is a Chassis No, the number on the centre plate is the VIN.
Your Chassis No should be on the ADR plate on the drivers side.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'd better go and have another look at the tags before I commit. I know for sure that the body id tag reads LH8VD69 at the very top which is SL/R. Maybe I have misread the vin number, I will check tomorrow. The later part of the body number 437160M on the body id plate does match the vin. Is it possible that the vin number could start with 8B69 (s model) and the id plate state LH8VD69 (slr model)?? Also can anyone let me know what the trim code 1876-19X refers to, that is what type of trim? Again thanks for your help, excellent forum.

I'd say the 8B69 part has just been misread and it really is 8D69.
