Just SS's,SLR's,Gpac's,L34's and A9X's as far as I know... Unless your car had it fitted as an extra at the dealership but lots of cars S/SL etc have the sports dash fitted at some stage later on in the cars history...

What you have supplied there is a chassis number, not the VIN.

Hmm good point John, I'm not sure about that. Considering the clusters do have a four cylinder switch position... but that may have just been there to account for possible modifications

Full sports instrumentation was also optional on the SL range in LX. At the end of the day there is no way of knowing what was fitted 30 years ago. More importantly if a Torana has the sports dash : "Do all of the gauges work". I would say most are faulty in some respect.

If they were factory fitted with the sports dash they would have the tacho wire(brown from memeory)..Does the SL with stocky dash have this wire, is it just part of the loom and used when needed... Iv had a look at a loom i got from an LX sunbird from were i got my console and the loom is untouched but i cant seem to find the tacho wire...

Very good point John. I don't think either of my LXs have tacho wires, at least my SL doesn't. (Haven't put the sports dash in yet) but I had a look and I'll need to run a wire down there.

I've seen some non tacho fitted cars that do have the tacho wire, and some that don't appear to. I currently have an 11/77 LX SL which definitely has the tacho wire - it's taped to the loom right behind the dash.

Hey Steve its Tacho by the way not tacko... tacho is short for Tachometer, hope you don't mind me telling you that...maybe you didn't know?
A word I used for years was "worser" until I was told it didn't exist.

Hi Guys.

The LH Plus4 had an SL type clock, but still had the black facia, not timber.

If Steve wants to use "tacko", then he is just as correct as those using "tacho", despite "tacho" being the more popular colloquialism of the combinatory term tachometer, or also tachograph. (But might as well go with the flow Steve)
At least you didn't use taco...........

heh heh

Dr Terry, you mentioned that the PLUS 4 had the standard clock etc and the Black Grain dashboard, that's the same as a regular 'S' I'm guessing although I can't say I've seen one. Some Sunbirds, LH SL/Rs and SLs had the woodgrain dash, that's all.

Some didn't even have the clock - can't remember which one (LH SL maybe?), there was just a black square with a cross on it like a plus sign....

Ohhh Sean, I've got you. There's one on CarDomain that I asked about and the guy never replied, that's an aqua coloured 'S'. There obviously weren't many Ss made, because I've never seen one in the flesh - that I know of; I suppose most have custom/SL/SLR interiors put in.

Both of my 76 LX sedans have the 'fake' clock your talking about. It is the clock cross without the actual clock mechanism. They are both 'S' pack models. Also my LX sunbird has the woodgrain dash with a clock in the dash.

Heath i own two S model LX toranas both of which have the standard interior in them. I am going to retain it when i start the project of doing it (the good one that is!) up.

Cheers toryman76

yes, the above is correct. such a bad move by the manufacturer, letting everyone know, and constantly reminding you that you have the pov pack by putting an empty hole in the dash!
