Well I've finally decided to lower my 5000. I've been keen on keeping it stock but I dont think lowering it a bit is going to adversly affect its "stock" status. Now I'm looking for advice on what height to go for. I believe there are 2 options: low and super low.

Any opinions fellas I'm open for your ideas on what is the best way to go and should I drop the back at the same time?
Thanks

id go for a spring option other than low/super low . consider tyre height/width, drop tank and suspension bushes .a progressive rate spring 1 inch lower front and rear with a matched set of shocks . Kmac or pedders ?

I would find a local spring manufacture and order the exact spring you need.

1" lower at the front only, going by the picture. Don't know if you can get them anymore, but I got Lovell A9X lowered springs in the front with Bilstein shocks, but that was about 4-5 years back now. These springs replaced a set that somebody lowered using an oxy. The right side had collapsed. The rear looks about right, any lower you start to have rubbing issues with a fully laden car. Trev's is an inch too low, hits hard on the bump stops. Think he is fixing that shortly.

Here's a pic if you want a comparison.

Mmm, maybe an inch and a half to two inches on the front and an inch on the rear.

Lovells inch lowered all round Rob, best set up on Torry's in my eyes without going to extremes. Any more and you have scrubbing issues like Pat mentioned.

Go with what Gerry said, he's going to fix up Trevor's. Can you still buy Lovell's? I thought I bought among the last pair four years back. Think it is mainly King Springs these days for our old girls.

I believe that Capital steering and suspension here in Canberra still stock them.
02 6280 5243. Were around $110 a pair when I last bought mine. I personally don't like the King Springs. I have had Lovells in all my Torana's over the last 20 years and never had a problem and the stage one springs are legal ride height too.

Lovells still make springs for everything, we get them through the place that supplies all our exhaust stuff. paid $70 bucks a set for 3 sets of rear LJ lowered springs

That's good news there OrangeLJ, because they certainly are a good set of springs. Yella loves em.

I want to get springs this weekend so I went for the kings. Did you know the springs for the SLR5000 are an extra 60 pounds stiffer than any other V8 LH Torana?

I didn't realise that Rob. Interesting info. Just goes to prove that no 1 person can ever never know everything there is to know about these beasts.

Whilst on his back Gerry spotted my Lovells at the weekend now I know why he commented and drooled, Lovells shocks and Koni adjustables :)

I must say if I were to replace shocks etc in another Torana I would be happy to go for this setup or if the extra cash was there I would try the Bilsteins as per Yella

Which ever way you choose to go Rob I know you won't regret it and it will be done right.

^ especially if you get Pete on the job from Capital Steering and Suspensions, he saves the Torries to work on himself personally. He owns the shop and he loves Torries.

I have ordered the front ones and will put them in with some mates this weekend. I recently had a hernia operation so cant do bugger all for a while yet. So the extra 60 pounds is just the fronts, I'll find out about the rears when I get them too.
