I preferred the hatch, but it's still pretty cool. I love the extensive cage linking the strut towers.

What breed of intake manifold is that your using?
That cage should stiffen up the old VN a bit. :spoton:
Looks like hours of fun when it's done.

I'll get it log booked as 3J Improved Production.
But I'm only looking at doing super sprints and the like, until the wife goes back to work.... :furious:

Improved Production is a pretty good category, wide variety of cars to run against, I reckon once you've done a few sprints, you will be itching to get out for a proper race! I hear you on the money side of things.. I'm always doing extra work just to try and keep my car on the track.

What state are you in? Have you been out to one of your local meetings? Might give you a bit of a feel for the category and the blokes you will be running with. Even if it may be some time before you get out there.

NSW, Yeah I've been involved in motor sport for few years, got a few mates into Imp Prod.
I go to as many meetings as possible, when I'm not working or family commitments etc....

I am aiming to have the car sorted out by Easter. I want to have a crack at Bathurst. Either in the Imp Prod race or The "Regularity Trial" I'm not fussed just aslong as I have a ckack at it.

So who holds the record at the moment any way???

Car looks great,
Are you allowed to have that bar work in the engine bay for IP ?

Yeah Bathurst would be an awesome event to run at, as far as I know its gonna be an approx 60 car grid, at this stage 30 will be NSW competitors and the rest will be made up by the other states. Looks like only 5 allowed from SA (with 20 wanting to go) so I'll be lucky to get a run.. prob end up pulling numbers out of a hat

Not to sure on the IPRA record around there, the last time we ran was in 99 and the best time i can find is a 2.34, but its expected the current front runners will be around 2.29.. no one really knows how much we have improved though...

Have you been on the IPRA forum? There is a thread on there with a whole heap of theories on what the pace will be.

Dave Loftus would have to be in with a chance...
Do you know if Paul Wakefield is still running around?

Is that because it was (operative word) her car? Where ya gonna fit the capsule?

Nice work, looks fantastic. I like the cage design, is that your creation, or did you get an engineer to assist? Let us know how you go getting it logged.

I F@#KING hope so :spit:

Just a matter of opinion and ow you interperate rules........
You're now allowed to pick up the towers with the cage (one point each side)

And the strut braces design is free...

I've had a few people have a look and they reckon its ok... but only time will tell. Not to hard to rectify if need be.

Cage work is all me...

I think Dave would definately have to be in with a pretty good chance for sure, his thing is a well financed, well sorted and very well driven car!
Maybe you are thinking of Wayne Wakefield, in the wagon? He hasnt been on the scene for a while, I'm pretty sure he moved on to a different class, I'm sure some of the older blokes in IP would be able to clarify.

Just heard the news that there will be 3 SA entries allowed for this event, and 30 expressions of interest (from SA alone) so it looks like we're going to be drawing numbers out of a hat to see who goes. Fortunately its going to be a yearly event, so there will be others chances to run there.

I've got a feeling that next year's will be even bigger, and more people will get a run....
I Don't think they anticipated the responce they've got..
