I took a trip to Wraith country (Colac) on the weekend.

As I crossed the railway overpass entering Colac the radio in the car lost reception, not just went crackley, lost the station totally.

We had a voltage drop to Wraith's starter solenoid and the first thing we checked was static battery voltage.

17+ volts at the battery in the car using Wraith's K-Tel volt meter. I crossed checked it with my volt meter and got a similar figure

We then checked a battery he had on the floor of the shed and again 17+ volts using either volt meter.

I thought perhaps both batteries had been in his Hatch and perhaps his Alt had been overcharging? Usually overcharging kills batteries though?

We then checked the static voltage in Mrs Wraiths VR/S? Commodore and it showed 16+ volts :fool:

I want to know if Colac Vic. is in the Bermuda triangle?

I'd blame Moopor.

Seems like there is an aboriginal witch in the area playing funny buggers (see below).

Also the Timmens family off Neighbours comes from Colac and Stingray was always making up weird spiggin words..... nuff said really....

Extract from some UFO website:

"AUSTRALIAN WITCH PUTS A HEX ON THE PRIME MINISTER
"Aborigines invoked an ancient curse on Australian Prime Minister John Howard by 'pointing the bone' at the conservative politician to protest his decision to scrap a top Aboriginal elected body."

The bizarre incident occurred in Colac, Victoria state, Australia on Tuesday, April 20, 2004, about 200 kilometers (120 miles) west-southwest of Melbourne.

"An Aboriginal woman, dressed in opossum skins, confronted Howard" after he made a speech in Colac. Without a word, the woman, known only as Moopor, "aimed an inch-long animal bone at him. Afterward, she refused to speak to reporters, citing unspecified Aboriginal cultural reasons."

"Howard decided to abolish the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC), which advises the (Australian) government on indigenous issues. The government wants to appoint a panel of Aboriginal experts to advise it."

Aborigines are reportedly the poorest and least educated segment of Australia's overall population of 20 million people.

"It was not clear what effect the curse was intended to have on" Howard.

However, nothing happened to the prime minister when he visited the 1,000 Australian troops in Iraq on ANZAC Day, Sunday, April 25, 2004. (See USA Today for April 21, 2004, "Aborigines curse Australian leader," page 5A, and The Age of Melbourne for April 21, 2004.)"

I'll be going back soonish so I'll make a point of checking the battery in my car in Melb, then Colac, then back in Melb.

I might go and have a look at the "floating islands" just outside of Colac while I'm there and check the battery
