have got most of my vn dash in and sorted but i am facing just one prob now. the key is a bit too close to the dash. i was thinking about extending the column about 30mm(once its rego'd) but i'm unsure of the best way to go..i have the column from the vn but it looks like major work to graft the two columns together. any ideas would be great.

i seriously looked into grafting 2 columns together but it was just too much of a hassle for just about zero gain.
if its an lc/lj are you aware that an lh column is longer?

your gonna have to extend the actual shaft.
thats the hardest bit but not really hard if your well setup.
then just add an extra section on the outer column and your done

I had the same sorts of problems when I put my magna dash in my LX jdss57...
My issue was the steering wheel almost made contact with the dash - I just used extented bolts on the column mounts under the dash with some washers used for spacers...

Now that the V6 is in I am going to use a wiring loom out of another VN I bought. I am going to use the VN's ignition switch instead of trying to use the torana's switch.

Would a HZ or WB column be longer than an LH, could you use one of those instead ? I would think it would be easier to shorten a column than to lenthen one.

I think it's fair to say the HZ unit would be longer. It should almost be a bolt in job too.

Flamenco,
i don't know if thats such a good idea. you do know how easy the vn's are to steal.(i know this because i worked for holden for 3 years and i replaced many switch/barrel assemblies) i've kept the tory switch and column, much safer, although still pretty easy.

Thanks for that jdss57 but I will have more than one security feature installed (been a victim too many times before!). :D
