Hi Guys

Can anyone tell me if VY Commodore rims will legally fit a VP Commodore?

I am unsure about the relative PCD's. I don't think a greater rim height will prove a problem?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

No they are definitely off a VY they are currently on mt sons car a VY SS.

These particular rims are 8.5 x 18.

Anyway Jeremy will be over on the weekend and we can do a test fit.

All being well I might end up buying these off my son for my VP.

Will get a photo later when he comes home.

Cheers

all commodores from vb to vz are the same stud pattern ... the only thing that really changes is the offset .... vb 4cylinder i believe has torana stud pattern.

Hi Sammy.

To add to that. Yes, VC/VH 4-cyl (there was no VB 4) had Torana 4.24" PCD, but their studs were 12mm metric.

VE also use a 120mm PCD stud pattern, but the centre spigot is smaller & the studs are larger (14mm). If you machine out the center hole & make up some steel barrel spacers for the 5 holes, then you can fit VE rims back to VB (if space & offset allows it).

The offsets are the same. As Dr. Terry pointed out, the centre bores are different. VB - VZ centre bore is 69.5mm. VE is 66.9mm. Even though these problems can be worked around, don't do it.

Hi CHOP

When you say the 'offsets are the same'. What is the same as what ?

I was under the impression that there were several different Commodore offsets, especially for VQ/VP IRS cars. That is why I said, 'if offsets allow'.

99.99% of Commodore rims are +43 offset. There is also:

+27 for VP I.R.S. and VQ Statesman
+37 for VG ute
+40 for VR SS
+42 for VL and VN Calais
+48 for some late model HSV

Apart from the HSV rims, most of the other alternate offsets listed are generally quite difficult to find.

Here is a photo of the rims I obtained from my son for my VP.

The size is 18 x 8.5"

The reason he replaced them was because the old ones need refurbishing, a job that I will have to look into but at $400.00 the set including gutter scrapes I guess it's not too bad a deal. He is prepared to wait for the cash as its going to be a few months before I can pay him, I have other commitments due to my Torry.

This is what he replaced them with:

I thought about your amazing skills but the painted centres are flaking, probably need bead blasting? The one pictured is one of the better ones lol.
Anyway have a look on Sunday and see what you recommend :)
