Hi All...
I have just changed over my steering wheel on my LX and was wondering if someone would be good enough to let me know what Torque setting I should tighten the Nut to.
The manual tells me to tighten to the correct setting but fails to Tell me what it is???
Thanks in Advance

Just do it up bloody tight and make sure the tin locking nut is on as well. If it is tight it won't work loose.

Hold the steering wheel while you do it, don't use the steering lock, as you'll crack the outer column.

GMH LH Manual
Steering Wheel Nut 14-16 ft lb or 19-22Nm
Steering Wheel lock nut - finger tight plus 1/4 to 1/3 turn

It doesn't need to be that tight, due to the splined steering column end.

If your not used to the manuals, the torque settings and specifications are usually at the end of the chapter.

Thankyou Yella SLur and all who responded.
Have now tightened as per advice FT and 20Nm.
By the way Yella , found in the Manual right at the front of the steering section !!
I swear it wasn't there the other 2 times I looked !! :fool:
I think it's called being
(LAZY) as I read the book!!

^ you were just adjusting to the operating conditions. Takes a bit to get used to. At least you have a manual, many don't.

Rory, I don't think it was. So many cars where things are done up way too tight. Case in point ---> door sill trim self tappers.
