
crooked steering column

hey guys, after a while ive noticed that my steering column is crooked, it angles to the right a bit. ive taken the 3 bolts out of the holding plate n then tried straightening it, but it didnt change a thing.
how can i fix this? cos im outa ideas

If LH/LX or UC then you may have one of these:

A cracked outer column. Common, and needs welding back up. Don't use your steering lock to keep steering wheel still when doing repairs.

where abouts wud the crack be in the column? i havent seen anything that looks damaged. thats why its got me puzzled.

That's at the base of the column.

Mmm, not me mate, no muscles here.
Yes it's at the top of the column (steering wheel end), you have to totally dismantle the column to find it, as it is near where your lock cylinder/steering lock fits in. I paid $120 and just got it fixed, plus an LX column to get a new outer off. I've kept the old one to repair back up and strengthen with a couple lines of strategically placed weld.
Replace the top bearing while you are at it.
