I've got a new toy, it's a VR exec with a factory 5L, IRS, ABS and a limmo. It's got a GTS body kit and SS interior. It's rough around the edges, but I got it for a real bargain. I'm going to tidy it up and enjoy it, no mods or ricer shit.

This is my compensation for having to sell my last VR. I bought RedA9X's VR SS back in 2005 i think it was. It was the most mint condition car of it's age I'd ever seen. I started my own business 10 months later and I just couldn't afford the payments and fuel while earning next to nothing.. So I had to sell the poor girl and I've missed it ever since. Now a few years on my business is on it's feet so I decided to compensate myself by getting another one. This thing is nothing like the SS in terms of condition, but I reckon I can fix it up and make it a nice car to cruise around in on the weekends.

Here's my old SS for those who haven't seen it:

BT1's are easy to tell from an SS, BT1 has a rear windown brake light, SS does not.

yep, that too, but a few years ago, many dealerships were selling VR and VS SS's. It was easy to just walk round and check the rear window before opening the bonnets

It sure was Mic! It's still the best example of an SS I've ever seen in the flesh. I really miss it, my mates have spotted it around the penrith area a few times. I've got some good quality pics of it that I took when I sold it, do you want some high res pics for your album?

High RPM - I was thinking the same thing. I wasn't sure how to tell the difference, I'll take a look at the compliance plate tonight!

Sure I wouldn't mind some pics, no burnout ones thought, that would kill me hehe. I have never seen it since I sold it, but I did get a speeding fine for the plates that were on it....

Nah didn't it turn out it was your old number plate, not the standard issue one I ended up with?

Stop revving him up Heath, you know I don't do burnouts :tease:

Here's some high res pics for Mic;

Not much changed from when Mic owned itt. I put the clear indicators on it, changed the CD player to an MP3 one, put a sub box in the boot and put VT front brakes on it and lowered it more.

BTW you guys were right, I checked the compliance plate and the white VR is a BT1. So what else were BT1s supposed to have? Were they 185 chipped?

Cheers

BT1 in a VS is basically an SS without the wheels and body kit and they had 2km/h incriments on the speedo and not not 185kw chipped, stock standard 5.0l.

yeah the plates i got a speedng fine for were not the ones on the car when you bought it, but they had been reissued to another grey VR strangely enough....

what happened to the front spoiler

I skimmed something parking a week before I sold it

Is the 185 chip just simply changing a chip or is there more to it?

On the white one, I bought a new engine mount for it yesterday. The engine had been clunking when u back off, the guy i bought it off said the mount needed replacing when i bought it.
So I got under there to change it out, I was looking at it and thought wow that mount looks pretty good... After a closer look I realised that there were no bolts holding the adaptor plate to the block

VR's and breaking engine mounts very common, I replaced the rubber and the metal ones with stronger ones before I sold the car.

185 involved (from HSV) the chip, knock sensor, intake and exhaust. The HSV exhaust was into a single cat, twin mufflers and back into a single resonator.

wow, i didn't know u could buy stronger ones? I still found a way to snap it :( A very easy job to change them though.

I got some bolts for the white one today and attached the mount back to the engine. Drives alot better now. Only prob is one of the small ones is snapped off in the block. They must have rattled loose one at a time and the last one couldn't hold it. Hopefully 2 will hold it..
