Whats the best way to spray paint the black parts on a hotwire mag? i had a thought that maybe if i mask the front of the mag then spray the black from the rear, might be difficult to get full coverage, or another way to spray it all black then use thinners on the wires.

any better ideas?

Thanx,
Nathan

I used the "thinners on the wire" method, came out good, just go easy on the thinners & it comes of no probs.

Mask up with pin stripe, if you full mask it and spray from behind you will get too much build up and blow back.

Most people i know, just spray the whole thing and whipe with a rag of thinners on the bits they dont want paint on.. lke LXM21 suggested...

I Cant even start to imagine how annoying it would be to mask up each bit of wire!

or you gould use grease (as in any type-bearing, axle, vaso anything petroleum based)

smear it on the bits ou dont want painted, paint away, then once the paint is dry wipe the grease off.

Sand it off with wet and dry after...if you are after shiny spokes.

cheers guys,

So far iv done 2 mags, using the wipe off with thinners way. Takes nearly 2 hours per mag wheel lol but its working and there looking sexy as!!!

the pin stripe and grease idea seem like better ideas, but i might stick to the way im doing it, i have plenty of time to waste :D

Ill post a pick when there done and on the car (tonight)

Thanx,
Nathan

Looks like they came up awesome! The thinners method you used is definitely the best way to go. I've done several sets of hotwires that way, and it gives a perfect result every time, without too much mucking around.

hell yeah, they look mad with the car so low. Just like you said before "sex on wheels"

Did you see that bulge in one of the directional tyres that I was telling you about? I wouldnt trust them for too long

Get some better pics so I can see how good your pollishing and painting went
