#1 only if it was an LJ XU-1, LC's have the different type steering wheel (non GTS type).

The notch in the guard means it is a 73 guard, thats all. You'll often see earlier cars with a notched guard on them, it simply means that guard has been replaced after a bingle.

So anyone know why the notch is there? Both my 73 LJs, (S 4door & SL) have it.

The LC GTR and XU-1 had a HK/T/G style wheel with a pair of flags in the middle of the horn cap right?

And the LJ GTR and XU-1 used the GTS/GTR/SS wheel with GTR right?

Whoops thinking of the wrong spring :$

Was the second throttle return spring one of the Bathurst bits that filtered thru to all XU-1s?

Grant..

1/ gtr steeering wheel symbol on lj gtrs and xu1,s only

2/ cut outs on 73 lj guards only , this was presumed for adr safety as a crumple zone .

3/ throttle return brackle deleted around 8/72

pretty much as 830hp posted the steering wheel is a hq item and therefore has room for the "gtr" badge. the guards cutout was supposedly for the " V8 " for extra flex etc but more than likely is a crash/crumple type requirement. and the spring return mount is a early body type of thing ,holden obviously decided they didn't need it so it got deleted i use mine for its purpose as a return spring mount.

The LJ XU1 I bought new in 1972 had no badge at all in the horn boss.
