Hey all, have been meaning to join for a long time now and finally pulled the finger out and did it. Great site, hope I can provide some input.

Well anyway, as the name suggests I like L34's and have had one sitting in my garage since 1982. They seem to be quite expensive little items these days but doubt I could ever sell mine. I guess Im one of those anal retentive idiots who stash stuff away and privately admire their treasures...I havent driven mine for 8 years and have only put 15K klm's on it in the 26 years Ive owned it...currently at 31 ishK.

Thanks guys and will get posting soon

Thanks for the welcome guys...you know back then my mates and I had our own little super car collection. between us we had 2 x A9x's 2 x L34's, 1 x XUI, 1 x XB GT, 1 x XW Phase 1, 1 x SLR 5000, a BSS Phase 4. Of course these cars were far more available back then and nobdy knew what they were potentially sitting on. Out of all of us there is only mine and the XB GT left.

FWIW the A9X HB is still around...this was Allan Grices spare race car with seam welded body etc etc...was totally immaculate until my mate rolled it down an embankment. I believe it is still sitting in a back yard near Taree under a tarp

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like a great aussie treasure you've got there!

There's no problem with letting it sit and be admired mate! It takes all kinds from the admirers to the racers and i dont belive that either camp is better than the other! Heck We all own torries and that's what counts!

Welcome and as per the others it would be very cool to see some piccies!

Cheers

Welcome to the forum L34 .
I just read your other post on another topic of how you were searching for an L34 a while ago.
I guess you would be familiar with Barry Thompson Performance Specialists?
He was in Church St Parramatta before moving to Homebush. He sold a lot of L34's A9x's amongst other Toranas no doubt. My A9X sedan was sold through him years ago.

welcome mate, ive only put about 1000 kms on my slr in the last 20 years. it dont hurt them to sit there.
unlike the late model cars. they will never be able to sit for years and years and start up with no problems. i know a bloke who just bought a new falcon cobra went home and sat it on blocks. he says its going to be worth shit loads in 20 to 30 years. i said to him you fool it wont be any good at all. the whole car will break down. the wiring, the plastics etc etc. he would be better off to buy a 20 to 30 year old car and sit on it.

Good to see another one come out of the woodwork. Sounds like yet another Alan Grice hatch claiming to be out there too. Scarey to think he had six of them in 1979. Do you have any more details on it at all?

Another Barbados Green L34!!! This must of been the most popular choice of colors for the L34 ( or the most resilient ). I believe I've seen more Barbados Green L34's ( mine included ) than any other colour. I reckon I've seen or heard of 12-15.
I reckon the white ones also look hot. There's something special about them.

Enjoy it, look after it and post some pics up soon.

Cheers

Was that Hatchback painted in the Craven Mild colours
and driven around by an "L" plate driver at any time you remember?

And welcome to the forum.

Purple, I think the car you are refering to is not this car. I know the car you mean, it's now racing in Group C. It was easily distinguishable because at some stage someone had cut the original tank down to make it smaller.
Considering Grice had 6 cars in 79 and wrote 2 off, A guy in five dock owns one of the 2 entered in Bathurst 79, Tony has the one in Group C, and I know a guy whose brother owns the one Grice smashed in 1980 at Oran Park (last I heard it was still smashed up), and about 30 other people have claimed to have ex Grice cars, it's always interesting when another one pops up. I went and inspected one for a guy recently, unfortunately for him, not only was it not a Grice car, it wasn't an A9X or anything close to.

Cheers mate! There were 2 green ones in our little clique...mine and a friends, which was badly damaged in a head on on Heathcote Rd in which a passenger was almost killed. The car was rebuilt but never drove the same again and underbody clearly showed significant damage had occured at some stage.

Mate, no, this care was in British Racing Green and had very very low K's. My friend was the brother of the guy who almost killed himself in the L34 I spoke about in the above post. I cannot confirm it was Grice car, but I can say the guy who bought it knew his stuff with Toranas and it was definitely seam welded and was a genuine A9X HB...not sure to many ppl went to the trouble of seam welding a car to fabricate a story...remember at the time the values...he paid 14K I seem to remember.

Mate I had an absolute hard on for a yellow one and it was certainly my preference! However, I am now totally biased towards Barbados!
