Damn i thought my 9 inch was shortened. I measured it up against the Uc diff i had in there and that measure 57 1/2 inches or there abouts.

A Ford 9" diff is 61" between the flanges. The LH - UC diff sshould measure 55". If you measure from where the rims sit on the brake drums, that's the correct way to measure them.

Ok just got my tape out again . The 9 inch i have measures 55 inches so it has been chopped to original torana specs.
However the UC torana Salisbury measures 56 and a half inches from rotor to rotor.
The uc diff was pulled out of a six cyl Uc. does it make a difference because it is disc brake? thats what i suspect.

The disc is thicker than the drum. Mystery solved.

Thanks CHOPPER. does this mean the track is wider or is that measured different?
