Is it annoying or you dont even notice it and have you ever had a axle let go or anything like that?

It's in my track Commodore, I just take it easy maneuvering the car.
When I do a R/H turn at the top of the street to put the car on a trailer, the tyres skip about 5 or 6 times.
You don't feel it on the track.
My opinion?
I wouldn't use one in a daily.

What kind of diff are you thinking of spooling?

I wouldnt Spool a banjo, but a 9" would be ok. Banjo axles are like toothpicks and would just snap.

Go Billet Axles and you wont have a problem with them breaking!

I know lots of people with spooled diffs in torana's, and they love it! It is illegal though... HAHA

I have a Mini spooled 9" in my current car, and to be honest, I hate it in this car.

It was one of those "Seemed like a good idea at the time" things were all I wanted was to get the power down to the ground, and not worry about LSD's shitting themselves.

My car already had a bad turning circle as it has had modifications to the steering previously meaning i don't get full lock, the spool just made it worse, to give you an idea for most roundabouts i need to go wide and come in and on the smaller roundabouts i sometimes dont make it and have to reverse back.

Ohh and u-turns are like 6 point turns.

And there is alot of skipping around corners, carparks, gravel roads and workshops are also quite bad.

On another note, I have had heaps of cig/nuts & bolts lockers in Gemini's & a friend had one in a mild 202 vk commodore and they were all a ball, but these were $3K cars tops and we weren't too concerned about them or any damage that we caused them. They also were not high horsepower cars, so felt alot more comfortable driving them in day to day traffic and in the wet.

My advice would be to try and drive a car with a locker/spool in it first before taking the step.

So do you think that maybe a detroit locker would be a better idea.

I haven't had any experiences with a detroit locker myself, but would imagine they would be a bit more forgiving that a spooled diff?

I had a welded diff in my LJ daily driver, boy was that fun. The inside wheel skipped when turning and when driving in the wet the car would slide sideways at every corner.

I can remember turning on a sweeping bend onto the Monash freeway in Melbourne doing 90 Ky's in the wet with a car load of people completely crossed up all the way.

The good old days Young and stupid but having a ball at the same time. That diff by the way only lasted 3 weeks till a snapped an axle.
