48Y is GTR only spec
48Y is black roebuck with b&w houndstooth inserts, same as 40Y except 48 has sandalwood bucket seat side arms & seat adjuster guard.
LC xu1 only came with 40V.

ALJ XU1 mostly only avail as 40X
BLJ models mainly 50X altho to use up material remanints there were other combos.

Hi,

The Z refers to the black/green houndstooth. The above list is for LC toranas

LJ
40X = Black vinyl Roebuck / blackvinyl inserts
40Y = Black vinyl Roebuck / black/white houndstooh inserts
40Z = Black vinyl Roebuck / black/green houndstooth inserts

I have seen an LJ advertised sometime ago with 40Z and it had black and green houndstooth.

Cheers Rob

Hi people, i need some help to confirm the correct trim code for a Indy Orange LC GTR with black/orange houndstooth we're restoring, i found this code (thanks to dpz)

Indy Orange 45L Black/Orange Houndstooth inserts

Did this trim list come from a book and which one was it? It's important to me that i confirm these codes as the car came with no body tag and i've been given 2 different samples for orange houndstooth Posted Image

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul (el-cee)

I have not come across a good list of all these interior codes. I put that original list for the LC together from looking at parts catalog, and keeping track of torana's for sale, etc. I have attached the list from the LC parts catalog, all it gives is the actual main color of the interior(the number bit) and not what the letter is.

For older LC's the orange houndstooth is a darker or more oranger orange to match the sebring orange paintwork. This would be Z on the trim code.

For later ones, the houndstooth is a different, more yellow orange to match the indy orange paintwork. This would be L on the trim code.

If your car is originally indy orange, then it would need the one to match this.

Some pics of the indy orange houndstooth colour:

Thanks for that, can't believe i didn't think of cross-checking the colour with a sample from the Monaro code for Indy Orange... Even that pdf lists 45L and 45V as just 'Orange'...

Your description for the colours is spot on, ours is original '72 Indy Orange and i've been leaning towards the dark sample, i will find out for sure somehow that i can guarantee.

I tried that! Nobody thought it was a good idea at the time!

This is supposed to be one of the countries 'premier' Torana sites!

I might be able to help you out with a piece of Black Vinyl as long as Johnny doesn't use it all.

Where'd you get it from? Tried to take the seats apart today, the clips on them are nasty little buggers aren't they..

Got engine started couple of days back, went like it had never been off, running like a dream so far, just need to clean up the carbs, damper pistons are a bit slow for my liking.. Then onto the gauges..

Would love to mate, but still needs a bit of work before i'm up to wof spec, unless you know a good place to get one B)

There's some structural rust on the driver's A pillar that needs some attention, and I'm on the order list for some brake parts, I reckon car could be finished earliest say end of Jan.. that's if panelbeaters have a quick turnaround time - hmm

I wouldn't worry too much about getting a wof at this stage, my XU-1 hasn't had one since late 2000 and I still drive it around. If the rust isn't too visible just take it to a dodgy little Asian mechanic shop, at least you will have the warrant sheet if you do get stopped.
