I have read conflicting stories over the years. One version is that a UC patch was put in place of the original LX rear floor pan. Another version is that they were given the upcoming UC floor pan in its entirety. Any one know for sure?

I don't know anything about the Floorpans, but is there any chance that that section made it the same as the whole UC floor pan? Whether they welded the whole thing or not?

I think RedA9X is the man with the answers.
Far as i know it was a Uc patch up. but I am probably wrong. Would like to know the real story too. I am sure a few of the peeps here know the real deal.

a bloke in a country hick town up here (population 50 on a friday) does A9X mock ups for recreation (plus theres nothing to do where he lives so i gather hes bored)
i sold a UC hatch to him bout 10 months ago and he said he would have it finished in a year and a half so i might do a toodle down there and scope things out, i'll remember to take the camera. He's comments to me when we put the hatch on the trailer was something to the effect of "put a LX shell on this floorpan" But he never went into any detail. reclusive sorta bloke....

A9X's just have a small section welded in, it is the section that carry the upper control arms. I gotta do it one day so that I can run proper control arms with the sailsbury

its a uc floor pan welded into the cut out section of the standard lx floor pan, essentil just replacing the floor pan with the uc rear section. If you ever get under an a9x you will spot a seem that runs across thr floor just under the rear seat

Everything I have ever read says complete UC rear floorpan. If tat was the case, then the A9X would have the spare mounted like any other UC, however, it's mounted like an LH or LX. There is only a small section.

I found this in the back of Fiv Antoniou's book "The History Of The Holden V8" Its a CAMS homologation sheet for the S/LR5000. Shows a dotted out line of where the floor pan is welded in.

One thing I have noticed is when you look at the top or side of the shock towers they are a different shape from normal Toranas, much sharper on the sides. Plus the back firewall has a recess for the junction box for the fuel vapour lines.

This would explain the difference in the part numbers. Something else to look for when checking for the real thing. Would be very hard to copy this.

HSV how did that A9X get so much surface rust like that underneath? Normally the body goes from rust and the floors are still clean, interesting

The first pic is the original, the second is after a pressure clean and Id say surface rust formed on bare metal patches and the last one was an inside shot [of course].
