I need to put a chassis kit in my LX. Has anyone installed one from CRS and are they good quality, or should I get one custom made. CRS sell them for less than $600.

That looks like the CRS kit to me. Apparently a couple of the holes don't quite line up and a file is neeeded to fix that little problem.

On the pld forum, one member claimed that the protection it offered prevented serious injury or death in an accident he was involved in. This is all from memory, so it may not be 100% correct. Might be best to wait for the particular member to post his opinions on this.

Was that hatchman who said it probably saved them?

I fitted mine up with not overly much work. You just have to spend a bit of time as you go to figure out how best to do it. Took me about 1 1/2 days to fit mine. Has about 8 or so bolts on either side that go sidewasy's through the rail and up through the floor. For a generic piece of equipment that has to be designed to fit up to un-uniform cars I think it does a reasonable job of strengthening along the length of the car from the wheel arch to the rear trailing arm. Some ppl don't like 'em and I'm sure there are better ways out there but for a reasonably easy kit sort of thing for the average car I think they are alright. My 2c.

Peace,

I fitted a CRS kit to my LH, is fairly straight forward, altho had to slightly slot one of the holes where it bolts up to the trailing arm mount, but the instructions say this mayb be needed (guess it means my chassis is a tad bent?) Seems like a sturdy peice of equiptment, and if your worries about it being a bolt up kit there is nothing stopping you from welding it in.... right?

All -
Remember to check the rules if you plan on running at the drags, as you may be precluded from racing in some catagories with a chassis kit fitted.

That was the main hoop of his roll bar, not a chassis kit.

I think it is also roll bars (ROPS) that preclude you from events, as if one is fitted you usually need other equipment along with it, i.e. proper race harnesses, insulation, and race seats (in CAMS and hill-climbs, not sure about ANDRA).

Are you talking about targa stuff or drags enderwigginau? I can't see how a chassis kit could have an influence on officals STOPPING you from racing.

Cheers,
