XU1 engine fan

Guys how do you tell a XU1 fan from a atock 6 cyl fan, iv seen fans on ebay fetch ridicules amounts of money...

it has cut outs in the fan blades..I think XU1's had a retaining bolt on the demonic balancer..err harmonic balancer...the cut outs were to clear that.

cut outs in the fan blade were only on 73 bathurst xu1,s

LC 13 !/2 inch diameter
LJ 72 15 1/2 inch diametre
LJ 73 14 3/4 inch diametre

go to the wrecking yards look for round ended fans on other early holdens models look for these measurements , however most holdens will have the square ended ones which arent correct .

Thaks 830hp, im not after one myself a mate is.. Another mate is wrecking an LC witch has a fan with cutouts and i was asked to see if its a XU1 fan with cutouts and was just trying to get a fair price for him..Seen as there both mymates i cant sell it too cheap nor can i sell it for too much...

They had an extra retaining plate that bolted on where you would normally fit a puller to remove the balancer. It was help stop the balancer separating. What it meant was the fan had to clear the 3 extra bolts that on a stocky weren't there.
See if your mate's car has the retainer on the balancer as well. They are worth a bit.

only 73 bathurst cars had the cutout and retainer plate :spoton:
