You can get L34 Pumps, that flow at about 7psi peak

what are you on about? its not an electric pump, diaphram type mechanical pumps are self regulatingCan you fit some form of regulator to the Holden Motor? Maybe a return line or something to keep continuous pressure?

MRLXSS, are you referring to something like a fuel log. These logs incorporate a fuel regulator and also have a return line setup so the fuel can continue to circulate while still feeding the carb.Ok, I mean fuel pressure regulation... So it is a constant pressure and flow... Some form of pressure relief valve or something would help with this? I have just read up on it a bit lately. I don't want vapour lock to happen to me again, so i am trying to learn ways to stop it... Constant flowing petrol under good solid pressure is less prone to vapour lock, As is cools it self down while moving around... Petrol just sitting under pressure in your engine bay heating up is not what you want when you are at idle etc... So some form of return line to keep petrol flowing while its waiting to be burnt would be a bonus? Correct me if i am wrong, as this is how i have interrupted what i have read.
These style of fuel logs are usually used with electric or belt driven fuel pumps.

HOLLEY & BG 4150 FUEL RAILS WITH PRESSURE RELIEF
These Billet Fuel Rails eliminate the use of a conventional fuel pressure regulator. The idea is to supply your carby with maximum fuel flow and then to return to your fuel tank what you don't need, rather than using a conventional regulator than can restrict fuel flow in your time of need.
The brass poppet valve attached at the rear of the fuel rail is preset to 6.5 psi, so when the fuel pressure is higher than this the valve opens and returns fuel back to tank. If the fuel pressure is below this setting, every drop of fuel from your fuel pump goes straight into the carby.
( The poppet valve can be adjusted to your desired pressure setting. )
Under bonnet temperatures can be in excess of 70 deg C and a further benefit to this system is that you always maintain the freshest & coolest fuel at the carby rather than hot fuel that has been sitting under your bonnet for a period of time. This system eliminates " vapor lock & surge" from extreme under bonnet temperatures.
Are they useable with a Mechanical Pump? They look similar to what you put up though GMH355

So MRLXSS from what u have described, if the fuel is under the preset limit would not you still have the same problem with this setup?

I know how to setup a good fuel system for my chevs in either electric or mechanical but 308 mechanical pump options are all Im after.
I could fit an electric pump and be done with it, but I dont want to put an electric pump or a return line, its only 6psi required, I dont need a return line.
Just want a simple mechanical pump that will support a mild 308 with a 242 solid stick and L34 heads, nothing crazy.
I think all 2 of my option have been listed. Thanks all. OzNoz here I come.

I tryed to order an L34 pump today (from holden)and was told they are the same as all holden v8s? they tried 3 diff parts books for me and keeped coming back to same parts number as all holden v8 pumps. where did ya get yours? do you have a parts number?
cheers

MERVEX covered what you are talking about, the filters had a small return line on some models to do what you were talking about. Somewhere I'd have a picture of one.
HJ L31 Statesman was one i know of.
RYCO plastic replacement filter for this was the old valiant one (dont ask for part no) which has this third, smaller return line in built.

I run the stock pump with the 7PSI upgrade.
Flooded once early in the engine start up phase. Nothing found to cause it.
I looked at the fuel return business and I bought the bits but it has not happened again.

Here is the filter I was trying to find, it has a small return line. This filter screws into the front of the carby
