Can one of our very knowledgable members tell me when the 175`s changed from rubber fuel lines to the steel items???.
I`m after this info because I have a set of both and own a 5/72 XU-1 and want to know how quickly they changed over from these others so I can put the right ones on it <_< :spoton:

Hi

I was talking to a guy the other day that had an early LJ XU1. He happened to mention that it should have push on rubber fuel lines. Sorry I don't know what month but keep researching, someone will know.

The thought occurred to me that it may have been different from factory to factory - perhaps some LJs never had push on lines.

I memory serves me correctly - there was a set of LJ XU1 tripples on eBay recently that had rubber fuels lines.

I just looked at 2 March 17`s today and both had rubber lines and 1 was 9/72 and the other 10/72 so now I`m getting confused

Hi

I suppose over the passage of time when lines get out of shape or cross threaded - the quick fix would be cut the solid lines and fit rubber ones. As a matter of fact the line that goes from the fuel block to the middle carbie on mine is rubber and I doubt if that is original.

The guy that sells the XU1 fuel lines on eBay may know.

i am sure LC XU1 had the steel lines also , i think you might have aftermarket lines if rubber ... maybe someone else can confirm this ..

perhaps a pic of the rubber lines type .

Not sure but it may have had something to do with where car was built, Brisbane, Adelaide etc. Some XU-1s did come factory with rubber lines though.

All LCs had a one piece steel fuel line from the fuel pump up to the distribution block (one pipe in, three out), then rubber lines to each carb. The fuel line from the fuel pump and the distribution block were in one piece. This continued with the first LJs, up to around mid 1972, when they were changed to a threaded distribution block and screw on pipes as far as I know.

Darryn, I am of the belief they changed somewhere around 4/5 month 72 to the steel lines. Mine is a 3/72, here's a couple of pics,
