just wondering what happened to some of the cars that have been used in movies over the years , especially the 57 chev in running on empty. I guess they get sold off after but are any still around and in good condition. some would be australian icons like mad max's falcon.

The Black '57 Chev used to be around Penrith in western Sydney. Was owned by a guy named 'Val' from memory.

Was lucky enough to have a flat out ride in that car at the Kangaroo Valley Rod run in the mid '80's.

Hi
The yellow monaro from running on emty could still be around (hk 186 was trashed in race). The challenger is also still about as a Valiant was used in end crash.
The was the ute from running on empty (bad guys) for sale on ebay at padstow auto wreckers (was not being wrecked)

Mad max yellow falcon i doubt is around as amc was told all 3 were sold for scrap. Mad Max interceptor was to be scraped after mm2 (dummy car smashed) but was restored and now is in england next to chitty chitty bang bang.

Running on Empty's "FOX" was getting around Brisbane, the guy used to take it to Harry's and down the Broadwater. I dont know where it got to after he sold it though.

Anyone seen Running From the Guns (an Aussie movie), there was an HG (i think) panelvan called Midnight Express also an LC/J torana and an XW/Y GT (don't know if it was real or replica, it give a Mercedes a good touchup ), aw an i forgot a yellow cobra (might be a DRB model).

Does anyone know if it's on DVD and where i can get a copy, I taped it off tv years ago but it's poor quality and I don't have a VCR anymore.

Heard a \"rumour\" that the 57 from running on empty was bought by the same guy who restored the Fox and is in Brisbane now.
if any one remembers the movie Chain Reaction and Steve Bisely\'s step side one tonner, I saw it outside Superflow Heads in Prestons the other week run down, but not out!

What was the name of the aussie movie that had a Corvette Stingray in it and the 2 dudes in it used to be showies. They stole some drugs I think, picked up a sheiler hitch hiker, did a few wheelies and ended up cruising around Surfers Paradise running from the mob. Grigor "someone" was one of the actors I think ...

Its interesting about the Yellow "Interceptor" in the First Mad Max.. Because from what i understand from madmaxmovies.com ( Some BIG fans on there ) The Yellow Interceptor made it out alive from the movie as it was virtually unscathed and in good condition... the other 2 yellow falcons were scrapped... I believe 1 was originally a taxi before the movie.. and Max's Yellow Interceptor was just that... it was an ex Highway Patrol car i believe.. Alot of people claim to have the yellow Interceptor but they are still looking for the real one..

Remember the car the bikies trashed, I think it's a 59 Chev? A mate of mine tells me one of his mates near Jenollan has the car in his shed. I have no idea why you would bother.

i found this , http://www.imcdb.org...Fifty-1957.html

it has people discussing the 57 chev from running on empty , it seems to have some debate on what type of chev it is , the post from "running on empty" seems to have the most detail , I'm trying to work out exactly what vehicle is used as the base vehicle for this car , wish there was more information about this car.

most people forget the cars in movies ar just another prop to be used at the time and just sold or gotten rid off at the end. I was fortunate to talk to a bloke called Reece Robinson, he prepped the cars for"Running on Empty" "Mad Max" etc, it was a great chance to get an insight into that early stunt work, that yellow monaro in running on empty was the first use of those poles in an aussie movies, they laughed because the stunty was a bit scared and was missing the marks so they wired it to the brake switch.......fn funny I thought.
For those who know the movie, the XY that got trashed by the gazzards was an original XY GT auto, it was dumped when the movie finshed at the Cobar wreckers, prob long gone, but just puts in perspective the relative value.

I was listening to Merrick & Rosso last week, they bought the Ford Falcon from Two Hands.

It was just about to be sold, I think the guy buying wanted it for parts or something, they just couldn't bare to see it ruined and literally stepped in moments before the sale and bought it.

They will probably use it for their promo car, the first one was a Datsun 180B, then the Leyland P76.

I bought some magazines from ebay and the guy lived not to far from here. When I went around I noticed many old rusted cars out the front.

He had a very strange panel van that he claimed was from the mad max movie. It has a jaguar rear end and it's going to waste rusting in his front yard.

Anyone have a picture of the panel van I've mentioned.
