i got a quote and wanted to run it by you guys.

Shave heads 40thou $120 per head
Re assemble with new valve springs/retainers/collets etc $50 per head (i supply parts)

forgot to ask how much to machine the intake manifold.

does this sound right?

can anyone recommend a machine shop in sydney?

the engine is a 304 EFI v8

also whats the most that can be taken of VN heads? i want to bump the comp up a bit to suit the cam, any experts out there?

cheers
john

Give the guys at Reconditioning Services a call and see what they can do for you. They are located in Auburn. We use them for everything we need machined and their work is awesome. Nice bunch of guys and they know their V8 stuff as well :)

It's a good idea not to take much off V8 heads other than a small amount for resurfacing, because the inlet manifold won't line up properly.

If you want to bump up the compression, change the pistons.

Yes, that's true. But to correctly angle mill an inlet manifold to match V8 heads costs a bit, if you're on a budget.
