Hi guys,

Would someone be able to check a centre vin no. for me please supposedly for an LH SLR 5000. The car is a long distance from me and I can only rely on the information the owner has supplied.

The number is 8D69TEJ485175H. It is supposed to be an L31, M21, GU7. Model No. LH8VD69. I don't know the original colour or trim (nor does he), history of car unknown.

Thanks Mick.

Number comes out like this:-

RESULTS FOR HOLDEN LH LX UC TORANA VIN: 8D69TEJ485175H

MANUFACTURER: General Motors Holden
SERIES / DEGREE OF LUXURY: SL/R or SS
BODY STYLE: Sedan
ENGINE CODE: 308
CAR YEAR / CHANGES ON 1ST SEPTEMBER: 1975
ASSEMBLY PLANT: Dandenong
SEQUENTIAL PRODUCTION SERIAL: 85175
MODEL CODE: LH

You will need to check if it matches compliance plate, and chassis matches compliance as well.

You need the colour and trim codes to work out what it was. Spose this is a start, but as always, buyer beware.

Thanks for the reply yella. It's difficult to read the numbers from the poor quality photo the owner sent me.

Looks like Model No. LH8VD69, Body No. 485175H, Trim 1888-18A?, Paint 568- 15952?. The owner thought the car was originally yellow but it is a different colour know. I'm just doing some research to see if it is worth the drive to look at it.

Have asked the owner to check the numbers on the tags and send them to me.

Mick.

15951 is Cottilion White.

18x is slate black, don't know what 1888 stands for. Toranavista may have to assist with that one.

hi,

just to clarify something for everyone. the first 4 numbers in the trim line are actually the paint code, as has been pointed out 1888 is cotillion white.

anything starting with 568 is a flat colour.
anything starting with 567 is a metallic
the second set of numbers is the paint shade associated to the paint code identified in the first 4 numbers on the trim line.

18v is slate black, 18x is actually an lx code that means slate vinyl with cloth inserts.

we all know l31= 5.0 v8, m21=close ratio 4speed.

gu7 is 2.78 lsd

now, having said this anyone that can tell me what the paint code 1414-567-15946 is I would be most gratefull.

<snip> 18v is slate black, 18x is actually an lx code that means slate vinyl with cloth inserts. <snip>

LH SL/R 5000's actually came with this option. It has the Slate Grey Vinyl on the door cards, and black cloth inserts on the seats. Mine is the same. Mates L34 has the same interior.

Actually, my code is 19V??? What does that mean? How accurate would the interior codes be? It wouldn't take much to change the interior in the factory.

19V is Black vinyl and 18V is Slate Black vinyl. In a an SL/R V is for vinyl and X is for cloth insert.

This changed occurred in line with the exterior colour changes ie Salamanca to Mandarin etc.
