Hi

Here's my dilemma, I have a very original LX which is in reasonable condition interior wise with the exception of a badly torn front drivers seat (bucket).

I have been to an Automotive Upholster and he has a very similar vinyl to what's in the car but it's not the same. Apart from being a bit grubby my remaining all original seats are in good condition.

So what should do?

1) Reupholster the drivers seat only

2) Reupholster both driver and passenger seats

3) Other - please suggest

Your thoughts / comments please!

the obvious thing to me would be to replace all the old vinyl with the new available vinyl to keep the interior all uniformed. but thats just me. will also be a BIG step up in price then for him to do just one seat....

One motor trimmer may be unable to help with a perfect match but maybe another could help? Post your trim code as there is at least 2 forum trimmers here and maybe they or someone else can help.
30 year old vinyl even if not cracked/ripped will be at the tail end of it's life. If you intend to keep the car and can find a good match and trimmer get the lot done.

It cost me around $300 to recondition the drivers seat in my car. It is very hard to tell the difference between my front seats. You will have to take a good look at the new material and compare it with the pass seat before you can decide to only do one seat.

I just had two complete interiors done, one in black slate with herrigbone trim for my SLR5000 and the other in black with grey golf ball for my A9X replica. Cools Auto trim in Peakhurst charge $1800 for black with grey golf ball front and back and it cost me $2200 for the slate black with herringbone inserts. There work is second to none and worth every penny. Steve at Cools has all the hard to get trim and is a nice guy to talk too. I have the back seats at home and will post pics if you want, I pick up the fronts next week.
