I'm not really sure where to post this as the topic may fall into several catagories.

I have a T56 6 speed that I am going to put behind the EFI 383 stroker I'm currently building. Because the engine is EFI, the ECU will require an input from the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) from the gearbox. The Torana's speedo is mechanically driven from the gearbox.

I know EFI conversions are common place these days so I'm just curious to what other people have done to overcome this problem. I'm sure there is something available now on the market that can solve my delima! :P

speak to Alan Gibbs at Injection Connection in Perth

He has piggy back VSS. These screw in where your speedo cable normally would.. and then the original speedo cable screws into the sensor.

Ahh your lucky you just need an inline speed sensor, square wave, its an Holden V8 EFI right? $150

The new engines are tricky they run sine wave input signal and you cant use a inline converter.

I have a friend who does EFI conversions all the time here in Sydney as a second job, fully qualified. I'll see if he's happy for me to give you his number.

Yes, it is a Holden V8 block.

I'll have to check the gearbox when I get back to Australia. I'm not 100% sure whether it will accept a mechanical speedo connection. <_<

Its either that $400 USD tail housing or you run an electronic speedo? Cost will end up around the same probably.
