Sorry Red, Having worked with Frank Matich who was Jacks team mate..I already have the books..which are very interesting...Ron Tauranac was the engineer for the Repco race team and the main lynch pin on it all happening...I guess I am getting old!! I keep forgetting the younger generation havent read or got his info! You are correct..it is all worth looking at again..makes you proud to be an aussie...only guy who used his designed own car, with an aussie design engine with all aussie crew to win the world championship. It will never happen again. Sort of like Surtees winning the motorcycle and F1 champs...Tho Rossi worries me! The young bugger might just do it.!!! :spoton:

I certainly knew about jack, but this has just stirred something in me to find out more. It sure does make you proud to be Aussie, and if anyone out there was to beat old Mick, then I don't mind if it's Rossie, he seems like a top bloke.

what types of toys do you guy's have???

our soilmec is basicaly a full semi trailer, weighs 42 tonne and costs....well lets not go there lol. most the bigger rigs have there own air compressors and hydraulics motors, aswell as the motor to run the truck. ie three turbo deisel engines on one rig. soilmec just has one motor to run the hydraulics (bgucking big cat) and uses three (yes, three) very very very large compressors, all running turbo deisel 6 cyl cat motors, for air. serioulsy just unreal. i was working on one of the compressors a few days ago, painting some bits and then putting a few bits in them, and one of the blokes fired one up. absolutley amazing, i was in love lol. i want one now....only gotta save up 100g or so....

but yeah, we have 22 rigs all up, aswell as a few water trucks. it's a reasonably big operation.

We dont get involved with rigs but downhole tools such as MWD, Logging tools, motors etc. There is some serious horsepower involved with the big offshore rigs, especially when you start talking a 1000000 pounds of pull
