This is something that needs to be sorted out asap..

Basically the R33 5 speed gearbox has an electronic drive.

I have 2 options..

First is to wire it up to the VL electronic speedo that I have grafted into the UC dash...Head ache.

Second is to convert to a mechanical speedo drive and use the UC speedo with a custom cable. To do this I believe I need to use a VL turbo 5 speed drive unit. It's the MX7 pinion assembly part number is 32702-02G17. I called nissan and they said it would be about $50.

There's one one ebay for $180 buy it now. Either this guy is a tosser or it's the wrong part from nissan.

I'll keep searching as I need a working speedo for the engineer to do a brake test in a few weeks...

Does your engine management computer require speed input?

No, only if it's an auto set up which my car has the manual.

Well I've decide to get the speedo drive unit from nissan. Came in today and it's the whole unit for $49. I'll see if it fits tomorrow. I also have a modified speedo cable coming..I'll keep you guys posted.
