From memory ljs had cable operated bonnet release. But were still able to be opened from outside. This plate bolts underneath the bonnet lock to prevent access.Cant quite remember how it is fitted.

I had two 73 LJs and neither of them had cable release. I thought it was an option, so the LH would have been the first one with a cable release fitted on every model.

Hi Guys.

This topic has come up before, but the bonnet cable kit was available on all early Toranas as a genuine Nasco dealer-fitted accessory. Not just XU-1s, but all Toranas. The one for the 4-cyl cars had a different part number.

They were not a factory option.

The original 'lever' that pokes thru the grille was cut off & that guard (pictured above) was fitted along with the cable & bracket etc.

Hi Guys , Great responses by all :spoton: , I can clearly see how it fits now and will drill my spare bonnet latch and put it on that and then get the latch replated should look pretty original and a bit of a talking point at shows ,HoldenOn Dazza

Ps Aldo the xu1 is nearlly painted and is looking pretty good at this stage stay tuned for some pics did you call my painter ?

no i havent rung your painter yet, did u figure out how to fit it, tricky dont forget to screw the 2 self tappers to the nose cone the latch secures the nose cone, all 72 and 73 xu1s were fitted with the anti theft box and cable the 73 xu1 had an extra small plate above the end of the cable this was to prevent a screw driver to go through the gap between the nose cone and the bonnet to push the latch to open the bonnet, and yes some SL models were also fitted with the anti theft box as an extra, all the LC models were fitted with the standard latch through the grill including the gtrs and the xu1s regards aldo

Hey Jaso, no part number on them that I can recall.

Price? Don't know really, just a guess maybe $60.00 just for the enclosure/box. $150 - $200 for the whole kit & caboodle?
