Hey all,

well i just got my hatch up and running today with the new engine ect,

On my way home from the workshop, i seen that i was running 6psi fuel preassure as set, then all of a sudden it dropped to 3psi then sat on nothing, Then it picks up now and again, to around 3psi, When the preassure drops the car dies out due to fuel starvation, I thought it was fuel evaperation being a hot day But it done it on a cold start,

Im running a Carter high volume fuel pump with a holley regulator

The only things i can think of is that the pump it draining too much power from the battery then dying out once the battery charges up preassure pics up, I have the battery in the boot, and run the pump off switches off the dash, Could i have a current drop

what may the problem be and how could i solve this

Thanks in advance :spoton:

Most of those electric pumps don't use alot of power, a decent stereo headunit will use more. I'd say its the way you setup the pump. Most of these are only push type and need gravity feed on the inlet or there is something wrong with the pick up. Are you using the stock tank? they have a small mesh on the end which could be collapsing and blocking off the pickup and/or other rubbish doing it. Another possibility is that there is a break in your power wires.

With an electric pump you will never have vapour lock between the pump and the engine.
What it sounds like is fuel surge, tell me does it drop psi when your idling at the lights?

How much fuel do you have in the tank?

What filter are you running? Where is it located?

Does the pump get a constant 12V? When under load etc, not just when key is turned on, needs 12V under all RPM, if the Voltage drops the pump starts dropping its flow and its pickup as the motor starts turning slower.

How close is the pump to the tank? I have my external pump in front of the diff, so there is over 5ft of line it travels to before it gets to the pump and theres a filter in between, it runs 58psi.
