I have aquired a lockable holden logo fuel cap and the problem is that it doesnt fit the fuel filler proberly. Does only one know if they had a different filler or is my cap just being a pain in the arse. The locking tabs appear noticably smaller than the standard locking fuel cap. I will post up fo pics soon so you know what I mean.

Ok heres the photos so you all know what I mean
standard locking
logo locking

I guess the other question is did the flash locking cap actually come off a torana or did any other models have em also?

The 'logo' locking cap was an option on all the LC/LJ's for memory. I'd say the inner workings of the cap are stiff if it hasn't been in use for a while. They aren't that complicated inside if you felt like giving it a clean out & lubricate.

The inner workings of the cap are fine, its just the tabs arnt long enough to get a bite on the filler neck to hold the cap in place. The best I can do is 1 tab holding on and I can tell you Im not going to put it on like that

perhaps you could pull the guts out of the good one and put it in your flash one?

I have one of those locking logo caps too. Haven't tried to fit it as I need to get it re-keyed. Now I'm going to go fiddle with it to see it will fit - let you know....

check the filler neck, its common for these to be
either worn away from the screw-on cap, or damaged
from locking caps being removed using crowbars etc
( it happened to my old LJ in the eighties, lost a tank of gas
it was nearly 40 cents a litre!!) this peeled the neck outwards
so it had to be replaced, you could buy new ones back then.

The locking cap is heavy, so if the gasket/spring plate is no good it
can move up and down which will wear out the lock tabs,
your cap looks like its in good condition so you
shouldn't have that problem.

I had the same problem with he LJ filler neck, I removed it from the car & brazed the offending areas up then filed to suit the "brand new" (still in the original Holden box that I paid $26 for)locking fuel cap.

Pretty sure the R/T charger caps are just a straight swap. No modifications necessary.

My original thought was that the filler might need a bit of a tickle to get the cap to fit. Ill give it a go - keep ya's posted B)
