Its an original Cooper in pretty much original condition, its original colours are Haze blue with an Iceberg blue roof but was resprayed marine blue a few years back. it has been sitting in a shed since 1990, so hasn't been drvien in a while, but it is all there, and nearly rust free.
the engine is a 998 with raised top Mahle pistons, ported head with bigger valves, twin SU's and extractors
the engine will need a quick strip down and check because it has been sitting so long, I am going to respray it in its original colours, and with a few repairs and a bit of a scrub the interior should look good. Its going to be Mums car when its done.
So this means again, Im not going to have time to touch dads LC
anyway here a a few quick pics, not very good because they were taken in our cramped shed due bloody rain!
by the way, the Clubman from last Christmas Clubman has been finished for a while, here is a pic of it

I've got a Sept '62 build 850 here awaiting it's turn in the resto line, I'm confident it was a Sports 850 but still haven't got the proof or anyone willing to confirm it is or isnt!!!
Great little cars, I've had 4 of the little blighters now, the last one a Clubman 'S' I owned turned me off them for awhile but I'll hold onto the 850 forever now as they are my preferred model much like an LC and I can't afford to replace it!.

went to see about the engine and transmission today, the trans is finished, the short will be done by the end of next week, just waiting on the head after that.
the guy who is doing the engine and trans has 2 ex BMC works Coopers in his workshop, GRX 111D and LYD something (I think thats what it was) as well as a BMC London-Sydney 1800 Landcrab so I am pretty sure it is in safe hands!

Are the rest of the panels painted to?
You should of had a crack at the g/box yourself. Nothing to them really, no diff pre-loads to set even.
Would have been easier than that Volvo? box you told me about.
Have you got the week off?

Looking good Makka!

I didnt have all the specs and stuff for the box so the old man just sent it off to be done with the motor.
everything is sprayed, might stick some of the panels back on tmrw
yeah, all week off, loving it!

It was a rocket! Do you know the Spit in Sydney's northern beaches?
At the top there is a fantastic "S" bend going up the hill. (good down too)
In peak hour traffic I recall Pete tearing up the hill in the inside lane,
and somehow in the space of 50m being on the outside lane (3 lanes) and
then back to the inside as we tore up through the S. Never been in a car
like it. Actually, I never drove with him again come to think of it!!! Scarey.
My lad noticed I was typing this thread and found an old drawing I did
some thirty years ago!! of a Godzilla version of a mini. GODZINI.
(I did a lot of car drawings back then, and he has them all in a folder.)
Have fun!
