if your head is a early one with the pushrod slots in the head instead of the round holes like Hq type with bridged rockers originaly you should be alright as the slots in the head for the pushrod will guide the pushrod and rocker arm.
as for the std rocker cover we run the same rockers as you with guide plates and .500"+ valve lift
with std r/cover just with the baffle removed.
hope this helps.
Thanks Hayden

I have the early type head with the push rod slots in the head and the cam i will be
using is wade 373 cam which the lift is 0.286 so i think all should be good.

should be fine with a small cam like that, from memory yt5008's are 1.5 ratio?? i have had lots of dramas with yella terra rocker gear bending pushrods and popping them out with the cam i run which is around the .530" we even tried die grinding the back out of them to allow a greater angle but in the end changed to crower... also have used milodon and crane on other engines i have built same as mine...
Hi the yt5008's are 1.5 ratio, It looks like use are all running monster cams compared to what i'm going to run.
Will see how my setup goes once i get it finished.

I was wondering how you went.Hi is it a good idea to run guide plates with the yella terra head and roller rockers yt5008 and
will it clear with the standard rocker cover.

I have yt5008 rockers with yella terra guide plates, i had to modify a fabricated sheetmetal aluminium rocker cover to get it on over the guide plates, the guide plates also had to be bent carefully to fit, now i cant get the rocker cover off without removing the wiper motor (FC holden)
my head is a 12 port black head with the big holes and i was told when i got these rockers that i would need guide plates.
ii have never had a standard rocker cover to try but my other rocker cover, a KC alloy one to suit roller rockers would not fit even after heaps of grinding.

If you grind the corners off some of the guides and give a kc cover a good rasp it will fit, iv done this before. bit of a pain in the ass tho.

ive cut the corners off the guide plates and started grinding some of the rocker cover but it still needs to move across about 4mm and i dont think there is enough meat.^^^

these are the yt guide plates with the brass inserts, has anyone used them on a 6?

Hi sorry for late reply havn't been on forums for ages, I checked my roller rockers and they are actually yt5007 which is the 3/8 type and have decided i'm not going to use guide plates and the
roller rockers clear the standard rocker cover.
Cheers
