You could also add a bottle of Lucas Transmission Fix (always run in all my autos) currently using Shell ATF IIIG in my Trimatic

Make sure you dont have any vacuum leaks - it may fix the slipping, the electric kickdown solenoid can warp as well and dump oil inside the box.

In my VZ Cross8 I changed from Dexron III to Valvoline Maxlife (synthetic). It is supposed to make the transmission run heaps cooler which is good when towing 2.5 tonne. You should get the transmission power flushed before changing though.

LOL... Dextron is a "type" (actually a grade) of transmission fluid, not a brand, and Shell do make a Dextron anyway.

More important ,would be ensure you fit (if not already) a huge ass transmission cooler, that will be the best investment to keep a tranny run cooler for towing, regular fluid changes would be a good idea to i would have thought.

Very good advice/suggestion, and hence why exactly that was done prior to transmission power flush. 4L56E transmissions are a much better box that 4L60E examples, but still easy to fry if not kept cool! I only wish Holden had been sensible enough to fit a 4spd TH400 (4L80E) to the Cross8 and 1-tonners. Hopefully they'll do that if they build a VE platform tonner/crewman. I've always had TH400's in my tow cars, and almost didn't buy the Cross8 because it didn't have a 4L80E (almost bought a 1993 K2500HD instead).
